ABOUT

Vanessa Bucci started her sewing journey at 15. She begged her mom to take a night sewing class at the local mall in 1998. In this class she made her first a-line mini skirt that she wore for many years.

Vanessa’s paternal grandmother Carmela Bucci was a master seamstress who managed a factory in Newark, NJ. She learned many sewing techniques watching her sew. Later she inherited her singer industrial machine in 2007 after graduating from Pratt Institute. With this machine she taught herself to make many different types of handbags that she sold on the streets of NYC. Fast forward to 2015 Vanessa started an internship with fashion designer Geoffrey Mac. During this time she learned fashion industry pattern making techniques. Vanessa also learned costume making and working with difficult fabrics like leather, vinyl, sequence, and neoprene to name a few. Later in 2019 Vanessa assisted Geoffrey Mac on his collection that made him the winner of Project Runway season 18.

In 2020 Vanessa was laid off from her part time job due to the beginning of the covid 19 pandemic. During this time Vanessa focused on her patternmaking and sewing skills landing her a freelance samplemaking position with Alix of Bohemia. Currently she continues to create samples for the brand. Vanessa also maintains a relationship with Geoffrey Mac most recently working on pieces for the Victoriasecret fashion show which aired on 10/15/24. These pieces were designed by Zaldy and created in the Geoffrey Mac Studio.
